EFD was dispatched to mutual aid Comanche County on a large grass fire, with several other Eastland County units, around 12:30 PM on Tuesday.  The fire was east of State Highway 16 between Desdemona and DeLeon.  After burning over one thousand acres, one occupied home and two outbuildings, the fire was controlled around 4:00PM.  Thanks to cooperative efforts of over twelve departments on the scene, fourteen homes were succesfully protected.  EFD responded with Brush 623, Tanker 620, and four personnel, along with Desdemona Brush 8, Brush 82, Gorman Brush 5, Brush 53, Tanker 5, Attack 5, Olden Brush 7, Rising Star Brush 315, and Carbon Brush 1.  This was one of three fires EFD responded to today.  Wind gusts as high as 42MPH, and humidity as low as 13%, were recorded at the Eastland Fire Station this afternoon.
